The Hertford County Association of Change-Ringers

Bishop's Stortford District

The Bishop's Stortford District forms the easternmost region of the Hertford County Association of Change-Ringers. The district was formed in 1961 and incorporates towers that were originally part of the Eastern and Northern Districts. The district currently has 15 member towers and covers an area stretching from Barley in the north to Widford and Sawbridgeworth in the south.

The current membership of the District is approximately 65 ringers, with members at all but one of the towers. It is our aim to have a District Practice Night at each of the thirteen towers at least once per year. Our annual programme typically includes the Hayden Cup Six-Bell Striking Competition, the Annual District Dinner, a District Outing (normally held on the August Bank Holiday Monday) and a Carol Service, traditionally held jointly with the North-West District of the neighbouring Essex Association of Change Ringers.
